Though I did not doubt the reality of Jesus’ appearance or his words, I reflected on this experience very deeply for several days. On the second morning after his appearance, I was kneeling in my room at 4:30 AM, praying for personal guidance and direction and for further validation of Jesus’ request. I was doing as I had been taught by my spiritual teachers—asking for further validation before acting.
That morning, as I earnestly poured out my heart to God, asking for his guidance, I became very aware of Abraham Lincoln, standing to my left. I knew immediately that he had been sent to validate my message from Jesus. I was very touched by Lincoln’s visit, as it was a clear sign to move forward in the execution of the contents of Jesus’ directive. The meaning of Lincoln’s presence unfolded before my inner awareness like the unfolding of a piece of cloth: Lincoln shares a first name with Abraham, the father of faith in the Old Testament. As a former American president, Lincoln represents Washington, D.C., and Lincoln was president when the nation was divided, as it is somewhat now. Lastly, Lincoln was the president who brought freedom to an enslaved people. Lincoln’s appearance was all that was needed for me to get the message. Without speaking, he faded from my spiritual sight.
